I'm Spoonboy, a solo punk musician from Washington, D.C. I try to explore the intersection between the personal and the political in my songs. "Sexy Dreams" is a song about the various ways that we are socialized to understand our relationships to gender and sexuality. It was recorded at the Voice of Haiti benefit concert, a show at which I performed out of my desire to lend support in some way to the people in Haiti who are struggling to recover from the earthquake in January. There are tremendous inequalities in the world, and as Americans we live amongst the highest concentrations of wealth on the planet. A show of support, solidarity, and aid is the least we can do when people in other less privileged parts of the globe are suffering, so I was happy to be a part of it. If you want to give a little something to help Haiti's reconstruction, go here: http://www.voiceofhaiti.org. Thanks.
